Breaking News



The votes have been tallied, and the results are in. The blue ribbon winner of the San Diego County Home and Hobby fair is Mary Brown, for her "wearable art." Let's give Ms. Brown a round of applause.

We can't hold all the people of San Diego County responsible for this and wish them to fall into the ocean. I say we just gather all the judges and Ms Brown and send them out in a row boat with no oars.

Well, this is obviously an A for effort, not for result. Yes, she shows mastery of several techniques and some complicated design/construction work. To produce such a complex garment is commendable. To produce such a ridiculous looking one, not so much.

Hoo, boy! It took me three days' worth of sweet, fruity cocktails with little pink umbrellas to comment on this hideous example of yet another piece of art-to-wear gone bad. Don't you just love the figure-flattering BUTTON right there at the, uh, belly-button? If this monstrosity won First Place then what got Honorable Mention? (I feel a disquieting chill as I contemplate the answer to that.)
